Gɪᴠᴇɴ :-

  • A can do a piece of work in 20 days.
  • B can do it in 12 days..
  • B worked for 9 days..

Tᴏ Fɪɴᴅ :-

  • In how many days A alone can finish the remaining work ?

Sᴏʟᴜᴛɪᴏɴ :-

LCM of 20 & 12 = 60 units = Let Total work.

So,

Efficiency of A = (Total work) / (Total Days Required) = 60/20 = 3 unit/day.

And,

Efficiency of B = (Total work) / (Total Days Required) = 60/12 = 5 unit/day.

Now, B Alone work for 9 Days.

So,

B complete work in 9 Days = 9 * 5 = 45 units.

Now,

Remaining work = 60 - 45 = 15 units.

This Has to Be Done by A alone Now.

Therefore,

A will Take = (Remaining work) / (Efficiency of A) = 15/3 = 5 Days. (Ans.)

Hence, A alone can finish the remaining work in 5 Days.
