Given:

Yash has 10 rupees and 20 rupee notes. The number of 10 rupee notes is triple the number of 20 rupee notes. Total rupees = 600.

To find:

The number of 20rupees notes Yash had.

Solution:

Let the number of 10 rupees notes be x and the number of 20 rupees notes be y.

So according to question, the number of 10 rupee notes is triple the number of 20 rupee notes. So,

x = 3y

or x - 3y = 0 (i)

Also, the sum of 10 and 20 rupees notes is total rupees i.e. 600. So,

10x + 20y = 600 (ii)

In equation (i), multiply 10 both sides

10x - 30y = 0 (iii)

On subtracting (ii) from (iii) we have,

50y = 600

y = 12

As y is the number of 20 rupees note, hence

Yash had 12 notes of 20rupees.
