For a pronounced diffraction the size of the slit should be comparable to the wavelength of the waves .

x -rays have very short wavelength of the order of 1A∘ as compared to yellow light (about 6000A∘).

When yellow light is replaced by x- rays , no diffraction is observed with a slit of width 0.6 nm
