Sub: Chaotic condition of Casualty Department

Sir,

With great regret and deep concern I have to intimate you of the extremely

chaotic condition of your Casualty Department. Having left with no other option I have to lodge a complaint against the confusion prevailing in the Department.

Yesterday night was the greatest nightmare of my life.  Due to drunken driving, a teenage drunkard had run down five pedestrians with his speeding luxury car at the Market Road at about nine in the evening. The driver literally crashed and sped away. It was a case of hit and run.

I was just behind his car returning from work. Seeing all the bleeding victims I called the police and with the help of some passers by sped to your hospital.

Not an ambulance driver, I still drove as fast as I could to save the lives of the affected people. But what do I find in your hospital, instead of assistance there was rejection and refusal!

First and foremost , there was no one to register the patients to the Intensive care unit, leave aside attending to their bleeding bodies.

When I caught hold of a medical attendant she straight away refused to handle any accident patient citing that it was your instructions to reject accident patients without police assistance.

I then tried to urge the doctors but they were too busy with the overpopulated ward stuffed with patients.

After a lot of running I finally got an intern to render first aid. By then two of the patients had already succumbed to their injuries.

Their lives could have been saved if they had been treated earlier!

With a grieving heart I am urging you to please look into your Casualty Department and see to its proper functioning so that it may save the lives of emergency patients and not snatch them away.

A disheartened citizen
