sorry , there is nothing called mono valency.

it is just valency.

to find valency of sodium :

Na atomic no. = 11

no. of electrons = The atomic no.

hence no. of electrons = 11

now , ec (electronic configuration) = 2,8,1

as the m shell contains 1 election in excess that is preventing the atom to become an octet state atom.

the valency = +1
