Reasons for the magnet to stop working:

  • The needle in the magnetic compass is a small magnet. It points the north and south pole with the help of earth magnet.
  • When the magnetic compass is near or in the strong magnetic field, it starts to swing.
  • When it is taken out of that field, then the magnetic needle works as usual.
  • For example, when a magnetic compass is placed near the refrigerator, the compass does not point correctly.
