One of the end product of anaerobic fermentation is carbondioxide. In a sealed container, with the passage of time oxygen depletes and anaerobic fermentation increases, hence producing carbondioxide. As the gas amount started to increase it occupys the upper space and put pressure on the lid and lid starts to bulge.
