Sub:- Environmental education imparted in schools needs orientation.

Dear Sir,

I am writing to your esteemed newspaper to convey my message to the masses. Environmental education has been made compulsory in schools. Our children are taught about preserving environment. Concepts like sustainable development which aim at preserving nature for future humans are embedded into the children's minds. But even these concepts have been created by the selfish man. A man thinking about his future generations. Nevertheless a man who wants to save the resources only because his future generations can exploit it. We never think about our fellow inhabitants of the planet. Animals. We never think of saving the planet so that they get homes to live in, or so that nature flourishes. We need to teach our children to plant trees not for the shade they give us but for the nest they give birds. We talk about leaving a better planet for our children, but we need to leave better children for our planet.

I hope schools reorientate their teaching in this aspect and create a better and less selfish generation than ours.

Thank you,

XYZ
