Subject: Civic amenities in Seemapuri slum

Respected Sir,

I am a resident of Vasundhara Enclave, Seemapuri. I would like to draw your attention to the apathetic condition of the slum in Seemapuri.

As you are aware that Seemapuri is one the largest slum in Delhi. Many people live here, but lifestyle of the slum dwellers is absolutely appalling. The slum dwellers live in unhygienic rooms, which are often overcrowded. This is serious threat to their health. The slums do not have proper drainage system and most of the houses do not have water supply. As you know water is a major resources for sustenance, and unavailability of water is more harmful for women and children who stay at home. On one side water is not available and the other side waste water is not managed properly which becomes a breeding ground for mosquitoes. The breeding of mosquitoes is not only harmful for the slum dwellers but all residents of Seemapuri. Mosquito breeding is not the only problem, erratic electric supply, absence of street lights, improper disposal of waste are some other problems that are being faced.

As I said that the situation is appalling, but it can be improved if the officials look into the matter seriously. The residents of Seemapuri can also help by donating to the NGOs working for the betterment of the slum dwellers. They can also interact with them directly and spread awareness among people. Through these measures there are high chances of improvement.

At last, I request you to publish my letter in your esteemed newspaper so that the slum dwellers are benefitted as well as the residents of Seemapuri.

Thanking you
