Sub.: Lack of medical facilities in primary health centre regarding.

Sir,

With due respect, I wish to bring to your kind notice that we are residing at 678, Raheja Atlantis, Sector 31, Gurgaon and there is Govt. Primary Health Centre in our city. As per the information provided/uploaded on the Health Ministry website, all PHCs must have provision of facilities like medical care, Maternal-Child health including family planning, safe water supply and basic sanitation, prevention and control of locally endemic diseases, collection and reporting of viral statistics, publicizing National health programmes etc. The principles of primary health centres are accessibility, public participation, health promotion, appropriate technology and intersectoral cooperation. Accessibility means that the five types of health care are universally available to all clients regardless of geo- graphic location. But in our area’s PHC, there is lack of medical facilities. There are some general medicines which should always be there in every PHC and for this Govt. provides lot of funds, but whenever anybody visits our PHC even for small diseases like cold, cough or fever, no body gets any kind medicines from there. The doctor and pharmacist always say that there is no medicine available with us. Besides this, most of the times, the PHC runs without the doctor’s presence and pharmacist attends the patients. As per Govt. PHC guidelines of 2012, there should be OPD services in all PHCs and a total of 6 hours of OPD services out of which 4 hours in the morning and 2 hours in the afternoon for six days in a week must be the schedule of ever PHC and even Medical officer of PHC must spend at least two hours per day twice in a week for field duties and monitoring. But, in our PHC, Doctor never remains present even for 6 hours in one week. As we have informed, the doctor is a brother of local MLA and due to this, no action against him has been taken by the department even after getting several complaints against him. It is really sad because the GOI is spending lot of funds of these PHCs but the officials who has given responsibility to run these PHCs, are not performing honestly. Some complaints have also been registered regarding demand of payment from Doctor’s side for giving medicines to patients and as per GOI notifications, these medicines must be given to patients in PHC free of cost.

Being a responsible citizen of Country, I wish to request you that kindly publish an article/news in your esteemed newspaper regarding all these problems persisting in our PHCs because media is the best source for publicizing such issues in a vast manner. I hope, after going through this news in paper, Health Department will be bound to take action against the In-charge of this PHCs and other concerned persons of the department. Kindly support us in this noble cause.

Thanking you.

Sincerely,

AJAY/ADITI SINGH
