Given:
Width of each row of photos = 8 inch , includes 2 margins.
Width of each photo = 1 inch
Width of margin = 1 inch
Spacing between each photo = 1 inch
To Find:
How many photos can fit in one row.
Solution:
Its given that each row is 8 inch wide and it includes 2 margins.
We can imagine each row contains 8 boxes of 1 inch width.
- Width for each margin = 1 inch
- Width for 2 margins = 2 inch = 2 boxes filled.
- Number of boxes remaining = 8 - 2 = 6
Now we need 1 inch spacing between each photo.
If Number of photos = N ,
- The number of boxes for spacing = N-1
- As left side of first photo and right side of last photo will have margin.
- Therefore N + N -1 = 6
- 2N - 1 = 6
- 2N = 7/2
- N can be 3 or 4.
- if N = 4, the spacing will not satisfy as 4 photos take 4 boxes, spacing 3 boxes and margin 2 boxes which add up to 9 boxes.
- But we have only 8 boxes.
Hence,
The number of photos that can fit in one row is 3.
