To,
The Municipal Chairman,
Delhi.
Respected sir,
Yesterday I found a stray black cat which was ruthlessly beaten by some people for stealing milk.
There are dozens of such cats in my locality which are being beaten everyday because there is no petowner to take care of them.
Please contact the pets welfare foundation in our city so that they can keep such stray cats in their place.

Subject: Flagrant Cruelty against Animals
Sir:
I am writing this letter to your good self to express my deep anguish over the flagrant cruelty against animals in our society. I became very upset when last week I saw an outrageous beating of a stray cat in a colony on the outskirts of Delhi. A stray cat by mistake entered a home; this caused so much panic among the people there that they beat it mercilessly! If the cat had not run away, they would surely have killed it. The condition of other animals is equally deplorable. Every other day we can see the mangled bodies of dogs, cats, buffalos, mules, etc. on the roads.
These poor animals don’t have any habitats left unto them because of man’s urbanization. They are forced to live among men; but they are not being treated respectfully by man. The other day I was reading an article on internet. I came to know that cruelty against animals is illegal in our country! According to the Constitution of India: “It is the fundamental duty of every citizen of India to have compassion for all living creatures. Article 51A (g).” There is another law that says, “To kill or maim any animal, including stray animals, is a punishable offence. IPC Sections 428 and 429.”
I appeal to your kind self to look into the matter and make some strict rules against cruelty to animals. After all they are our fellow partners in existence. It is our responsibility to look after them.
Thanking you,
Yours truly,
Srishti Kalia
