Kolkata, July 19: Today, near the Howrah
Station, a 100 year old multistoried building has collapsed at about 4 a:m in the morning.
Considering the time of the day, there are not many casualties as the area below the building mostly stays vacant.
Moreover the building is not inhabited by anyone and is under lock and key for many years.
The owner has sold the building to some state agencies and the renovation process was going on at intervals.
The condition of the buiding has hugely deteriorated over the years and the reason for the collapse is nothing beyond the old age of the building.
Some inhabitants of the area who were lying in an adjacent pavement had minor injuries due to some small pieces of bricks and stones falling on them.
Although there are not any major casualties of the accident, it has created panic among the people of the area and they think that has this accident occurred during the busy hours of the day, it could have led to many deaths.
The people who met with minor injuries have been given first aid and the remnants of the building is completely sealed.
