The number of vehicles on roads has risen alarmingly. It is estimated that approximately 217.7 tons of carbon monoxide is emitted in all the metropolitan cities. Similarly, 66.7 tons of hydrocarbons are released in the air every day. Other pollutants such as lead, Sulphur dioxide, and particulate matter are released into the air. This may pose serious health hazards. Keeping this in view judicious use of vehicles has become a necessity.
While buying vehicles, the environmental aspects must be taken into consideration. If possible, electric vehicles should be bought as they cause no air pollution. Those who use petrol or diesel vehicles, should use them optimally by ensuring regular servicing and using the vehicle in a manner that causes minimum pollution. Very old vehicles must not be used and disposed of at the right time, ethically.
We must not forget the environment conservation is our collective responsibility for the good of all.
