Good morning everyone present; I am here to speak on ‘We the ugly and poor’.
I start my speech by asking you a very important question: Is being poor and ugly a fault? I strongly feel being poor and ugly is not anyone’s fault. But treating the ugly and the poor with discriminatory and judgmental attitude is certainly bad.
Why is it that good people like Wanda are made fun of? People like her who are immensely talented are discriminated. People like Peggy and Madeline represent the common people who make fun of people like Wanda for their uniqueness. If anyone’s name is unusual, does it mean she/he should be made fun of?
If anyone has just one dress to wear, does it mean we should laugh at him/her? I feel it is insensitive to do so. Though Peggy and Madeline did not treat Wanda well, yet she made beautiful drawings for them with their sketches. Realizing their mistakes, they felt sorry and wanted Wanda to return.
I appeal to all never to be judgmental against those who are poor or different in any manner.
