Given :   You are downloading a song. The percent y (in decimal form) of mega bytes remaining to get downloaded in x seconds is given by y=-0.1x +1.

To find :  graph the equation.   ,after how many seconds will 75% of the song gets downloaded?  after how many seconds the song will be downloaded completely?

Soution:

The percent y (in decimal form) of mega bytes remaining to get downloaded in x seconds is given by  y=-0.1x +1.

The percent y (in decimal form)   means  100%  =  1    , 75% = 0.75

at x = 0

y = 1   ( 100 % left to download)

y = 0  ( 0 % left  => 100 % downloaded)

=> 0  = -0.1x  + 1  => x  =   10   ( 10 Secs to Complete download song)

75% of the song gets downloaded => 25 %  left to Download

=> 0.25  =  -0.1x  + 1

=> x  = 7.5   ( 7.5 Secs to Download  75%  Song)
