You are facing a circular wire carrying an electric current. The current is clockwise as seen by you. Is the field at the centre coming towards you or going away from you?

The field at the centre is going away from me.

Explanation:

  • As per the right-hand thumb rule, if the right hand’s fingers are curled in the current flowing direction, then the thumb will be pointed out in the magnetic field’s direction.
  • This is developed due to this and the magnetic field’s direction will be towards the thumb.
  • So, as per this case, the centre’s field appears to be going away from us.
