1) using another bar magnet with markings :
if the magnets attract each other then that end of these magnets are of opposite poles and if they repel each other then they are of the same pole.

suspend the magnet using a thread. it will point towards north-south direction indicating the poles

we will suspend the bar magnet with the help of a thread .a magnet always point in the north-south direction. the geographical north pole of the earth is the magnetic south pole and the geographical south pole of the earth is the magnetic north pole. then use a magnetic compass and find the directions and mark it accordingly
