Answer :-

› Focal length of the convex lens = + 15 cm

› Object distance = - 40 cm

› Image distance = ?

By using the lens formula,

1/f = 1/v - 1/u

› 1/v = 1/f + 1/u

› 1/v = 1/15 - 1/40

› 1/v = 8-3/120

› 1/v = 5/120 = 1/24

v = 24 cm

Magnification, m = v/u

› m = 24/40

› m = 3/5 -› size of the image as compared to the object.
