You are given a mixture of sand and iodine which technique and why would you use to separate the two.?

It is because iodine is a sublime substance that is, it is converted directly into vapours when it is heated without going into the liquid state. Whereas sand in non sublime. Therefore when the mixture is heated iodine will sublime and sand will be left behind separating the both
