PROCEDURE - We'll take dilute Hydrochloric acid [aqueous] in a China dish and then will dip Litmus paper in it.
BASIC PRINCIPLES INVOLVED -
• If the colour of paper changes to BLUE then given solution is a BASE.
• If the colour of paper changes to RED then given solution is an ACID.
OBSERVATIONS - The colour of litmus paper remains the same.(i.e red)
RESULT - Hence, HCl is an acid.
