Answer:-

Light will travel slowest in medium 'y' .

Explanation:-

We know that :-

n = c/v

Where :-

n is the refractive index.

c is the velocity of light in vaccum.

v is the velocity of light in given

medium.

Let the velocity of light in medium 'x' be v₁ , in medium 'y' be v and in medium 'z' be v

For medium 'x' :-

=> 1.33 = 3×10⁸/v₁

=> 1.33v₁ = 3×10⁸

=> v₁ = 3×10⁸/1.33

=> v = 2.25×10 m/s

For medium 'y' :-

=> 1.63 = 3×10⁸/v₂

=> 1.63v₂ = 3×10⁸

=> v₂ = 3×10⁸/1.63

=> v = 1.84×10 m/s

For medium 'z' :-

=> 1.54 = 3×10⁸/v₃

=> 1.54v₃ = 3×10⁸

=> v₃ = 3×10⁸/1.54

=> v = 1.95×10 m/s

v > v > v

We can also solve this problem using :-

n 1/v

Means, more the refractive index, the less is the velocity of light in that medium.
