You are given two samples of water labelled as “X”

and “Y”. Sample “X” boils at 100oC and sample “Y”

boils at 102oC. Which sample of water will not freeze

at 0oC? Explain in brief.​

Answer: Sample Y

Explanation: As sample X boils at 100°C it is pure water. And pure water always freezes at 0°C ,hence sample X freezes at 0°C. Thus the sample not freezing at 0°C is sample Y as it is impure water and is mixed with some contaminants.(We conclude this as sample Y doesn't boil exactly at 100°C)
