According to the question,

Molarity of the solution is 3.1 M and volume of the solution is 2.2 L .

As we know that ,

Molarity can be defined as the number of moels of solute present in per litre of volume of solution.

M = \frac{number  of moles of solute}{volume of solution (L)}

M × volume of solution (L) = number of moles of solute

3.1 × 2.1 = number of moles of solute

Hence, number of moles of solute are 6.51 mol .
