   I am Manhar Rawat working as a director in public welfare department of Mussoorie. I am writing this letter to you to express my views on recent afforestation activities in Uttarakhand region. People are more interested in planting trees than they have been before. Most parts of the Uttarakhand have become green today and that will help preventing land slides and floods in future. Government of the state has also pouring more concentration in developing the green status of the state. Now I request you to publish a detailed article in your esteemed national daily about the green revolution in Uttarakhand.

Subject: Appreciation for Government’s work in curbing deforestation

Sir:

I am writing this letter to express my deep satisfaction and appreciation of the Government’s efforts to curb deforestation around Mussoorie. The hills around the beautiful hill station had been denuded which has led to rise in heat, land sliding, and reduction of number of tourists.  

However, the Government took some stringent measures such as re-plantation of the denuded hills, ensuring their growth, putting security guards to see there is no further cutting of trees. Over a span of two years Mussoorie is as green as it used to be. The temperature has come down, more tourists are visiting it. Local people are happy at the revival. The Government needs to be appreciated for these efforts.
