You are planning to go to a cold place where temperature drops to -50degree C which thermometer would you take alcohol or mercury and why?

Mercury Thermometer is mo re preferable than the Alcohol one as the alcohol thermometer ( also known as - aneroid thermometer ) is less accurate and is not portable (not easy to carry).
