You are proveded with a rectangular peice of iron or magnet .How will you identify whether it is a magnet or an iron peice

We can take a board and fix the iron piece/magnet on it and sprinkle some iron fillings on the board. If the piece is a magnet, the iron fillings will align themselves in such a way that they will represent the magnetic field lines of the magnet. If that does not happen, then it is an iron piece and not a magnet.
