First heat the mixture the ammonium chloride will vaporise .Then add water to the remaining mixture. Mix it and the let it settle down .Salt will dissolve while sand will sink .

Pass the solution through a filter paper into another beaker. Sand will be separated. The heat the salt solution water will evaporate leaving behind salt.
