a)Iron fillings can be separated form the Sulphur, by rolling a magnet over the mixture. The iron fillings will be attracted by the magnet. Or to the mixture containing sulphur and iron fillings add carbon disulphide, this will dissolve sulphur, leaving behind iron filings.
(b)When Fe fillings reacts with the sulphur in presence of dil. H2SO4 , H2S (Hydrogen Sulphide)gas is obtained the reaction can be written as
Fe(s) + S (s) + H2SO4 —-> FeSO4 + H2S
(c)Properties of the H2S gas formed:
i) it is an colourless gas
ii) it smells like an rotten egg
