heat the mixture naphthalene and sodium chloride causing naphthalene to sublime into a gas.place a cooled surface above the fumes (such as flask filled with cool water)the cooled surface will cause the naphthalene vapors to return to the solid phase.meanwhile the nacl will remain in the original container since it is uneffected by the heating process.

Take a beaker in China dish add sodium chloride or naphthalene and start ed heating it always remember before heating cover beaker with rubber cork .Slowly while heating the naphthalene and sodium chloride changes in to gas ..The process in which solid changes in to gas with out changing into liquid is called sublimation
