Marble is chemically calcium carbonate.
When marble is added to H2SO4
CaCO3 + H2SO4 -------> CaSO4 + H2O + CO2.
It is a displacement reaction.
Effervescence is seen due to liberation of CO2.
Lime water turns milky when the evolved CO2 is passed through it.
When zinc is added to H2SO4
Zn + H2SO4 -----> ZnSO4 + H2
Hydrogen gas is evolved.
Fire burns with pop sound when a burning splinter is introduced to the evolved H2.
This is a DISPLACEMENT REACTION.
Hope it helps.....
