you are provided with two similar bars, one is a magnet and the other is a soft iron bar how will you distinguish between them without the using of any other magnet or bar

as there is already a magnet in one of those bars,it would pull the iron bar towards itself. so whichever bar is pulling a bar towards itself more,that is the magnet and the other is the soft iron.

we can distinguish then by two experiments, first we will put one of the items attached to a surface and leave the second item closer to it on the surface then you can see the fixed item pulling the item which is let loose

do this again by reversing the items.

after this experiment u will infer that one item is pulling with a stronger force than the other , by this you can distinguish between the iron bar and the bar of iron
