As I type this, my stomach is turning because of the terrible quality that has descended upon the television serials that are produced in our country. Today I caught up on some of my favourite shows by watching an episode of one of my favourites, a serial, and I was extremely shocked and disturbed by some of the ideas it seemed to propagate. To begin, these television shows completely devalue the importance of both the relationships within a family and those between individuals. They depict members of the family as constantly arguing with one another or even setting traps for one another to fall into so they can watch each other fail. Second, there is a major problem with the way that these serials portray female characters. The ideas that these serials have chosen to propagate are extremely offensive and misogynistic toward women. These television shows should not be watched by people of a younger age because they are inappropriate.
