Answer:

It is difficult to imagine a world without television, especially when it is about school students who just cannot seem to do without their daily television viewing. An average school student spends around 8 to 9 hours daily at school and after they come home they want to relax and unwind which they usually do by watching their favourite TV programmes.

But it is also worth mentioning that there are many different genres of programmes that are shown on TV. It is a matter of serious discussion as to whether television viewing is really good or bad for school students.

Television is good for students: Television provides a medium through which students can watch many informative and education related programmes from all over the world that too from the comforts of their homes. They can learn a lot of new things from the channels that telecast very good quality educational and informative content related to education, like science, engineering, wildlife, history, geography, and culture.

Watching news on television from different channels and mediums will increase their general knowledge and keep them updated with what is happening around the world and at home. After spending long hours on studies students get tired then they can easily relax by watching good movies or serials as entertainment. In fact, there are many channels that air programmes exclusively for students.

Too much of television affects the development of the brain and muscles. It might also interfere with hormonal imbalance. All these combined are very harmful and can have long lasting repercussions.

Sometimes students watch TV programmes or movies which are not appropriate for their age group and can mislead them with their content. Things like violence, bloodshed, sex, alcohol, drugs etc. might disturb the young minds, encouraging them to emulate what is shown on TV. Hence parents have to constantly monitor them and keep a watchful eye.
