Children love to spend most of their time in font of the TV. On an average every child spends about two hours daily in front the small screen,All big businessmen know this fact and do their best to capitalize on it. They advertise their products on the TV, time and again many times a day. when a child sees these advertisements on the TV he begins to feel that they are really worth having, he is not yet developed enough to decide for himself whether an advertised thing is really good or not. He simply must have a particular thing because he has seen it advertised on the TV so many times. That is why the TV has become such a powerful medium of advertisement.

Today, children are less innocent flowers and rather more practiced consumers with detailed knowledge of various products and brands available in the market. An average British children between eight to 13 are exposed to 22000 television commercials a year- 300000 if you include radio, television, print ad, billboards, and the internet. This placed British youth third in the ranks of media-exposed kids in the world-after the US and Australia. Today even in India television has come up in a huge way and advertising is a huge multi-million on-dollar industry that has an enormous impact on the development of a child. Parents believed that there is change in the behavior of children when they watch television ads. Television ads sometimes have a negative impact on children since whenever they come across an advertisement, they demand to purchase the advertised product. Refusal of such requests often results in conflict. They think that children need some kind of protection from advertisements. Television advertising often product and brand-related ideas and information to children that results in purchase request to parents. This issue-to what extent television advertisements is effective in defining and changing the buying behavior of children-is worth investigating, and has motivated us to undertake this study. India marketers are increasingly targeting children because they find children are the only market segment that do not change their preferences rapidly and are easy to influence through advertisements.

Impact of television advertising on children
-Rajni
These days for the sake of business, people are desperate to advertise their products. Day by day some new products are made that not only have many advantages but many disadvantages too.
People not only manufacture the products but also tend to advertise them. These days, even small businessmen are able to advertise their products easily. Advertising helps the customer to discover what she wants. A product remains hidden unless and until it is exposed in front of the public through flashy pictures and catchy lines. But, despite all these things we are vulnerable to forget some things. And that is the effect advertisements have on children.
During meals and free time children tend to watch their favourite cartoons or shows. During breaks, the disaster starts. Children watch the advertisements shown. Generally, in children shows the advertisements are such that it attracts the children to buy those products. The products range from a mere pen to a hi-fi toy. They are too small to understand that everything they see doesn't have to be theirs. Their parents might not be able to afford it. So, when the child asks her parents to buy them that, they might refuse. And this will lead to unhappy relationships between the parents and children. And even if they are able to afford it, it will spoil the child.
There are many demerits of advertising on children shows. So, to avoid this unrequired mess among families we should raise our voices against advertisements on children shows. Or, we can just create awareness among families to tell their children to watch those channels with no advertisements. But, the best possible way is to watch television to the least. Parents can change the channel when the advertisements start. In these ways, let's stop the harmful impact of television on a child's life!
