Some of the non conventional source of energy are as follows :
SOLAR ENERGY :
The energy which we get from the sun is used to make electricity, this energy is called as solar energy.
Solar panels are used to absorb light energy and then convert them into electric energy through generator.
TIDAL ENERGY :
The energy associated with rise and fall of water in sea tides is called tidal energy. Tidal energy is not an indirect source of energy. Tidal dam is used to store water and during high and low tide, turbine is used to produce electricity.
GEOTHERMAL ENERGY :
The energy possed by hot water and stream entrapped between the hot rocks present below the surface of earth is called geothermal energy. There are various advantages and disadvantages of geothermal energy.
NUCLEAR ENERGY :
The energy released during a nuclear reaction (fission or fusion process) is called nuclear energy.
There are two types of nuclear reactions.
(i)Nuclear Fission and (ii)Nuclear Fusion
Nuclear Fission : The process of splitting up of a fissile nucleus like uranium, plutonium etc by a slow moving neutron is called nuclear fission.
Nuclear Fusion : The process in which two or more lighter nuclei combine to form a heavy and stable nucleus resulting in the release of energy is called nuclear fusion.
