Guwahati, June1: Many places in Demaji district remain submerged under floods for a week till filing of this report.
According to local people, the floods occured due to heavy rain during last fortnight in the catchment areas of a major river. In some low lying areas people are taking shelter in dams and other high places.
Eyewitnesses let this reporter know that no govt officials from concerned departments are visiting the flood scene. Relief measures has been reported to be not adequate.
