Question :
An object travels 20m in 4s and then other 20m in 10s . What is the average speed of the object ?
Solution :
As per the question we have two cases so let's assume each as Case 1 and Case 2 respectively !
Case 1 :
Distance Covered : 20m
Time taken : 4 sec
Speed : Distance / time
: 20 / 4
: 5 m / sec
Case 2 :
Distance Covered : 20 m
Time taken : 10 sec
Speed : Distance / time
: 20 / 10
: 2 m / sec
\huge \sf \: average \: speed = \frac{total \: distance}{total \: time}averagespeed=totaltimetotaldistance
= \frac{5 + 2}{4 + 10}=4+105+2
= \frac{7}{40} = 0.175=407=0.175
Hence , the average speed of the object is 0.175 m / sec !!
