Every science student completing his twelfth standard has an aim of joining either BE, BTech or MBBS. The number of private self-financing colleges has increased so much nowadays that every student tries to join them by paying huge captation fees every year. This has reduced the number of students joining other related courses in colleges as they are not considered to be professional.
Are these courses really not worth joining or are the career options nil from the other courses? Even the professionals seem to be unemployed or under employed. In that case, don't you think they could have taken up other courses and explore better career options through them like teaching research professionals, entrepreneurs etc? Can we not help change this trend and prevent corruption in the form of huge fees to join the private colleges?
The situation is slowly changing. Students are starting to move to their field of interest and are not blindly joining engineering and medicine now a days.
but the competition in engineering will remain. Whatever development is there in other field, engineering and medicine grace will surely be there. Because in other fields the students need to develop special interest to earn a suitable revenue. They have to get at least a masters degree to do something. But in engineering whatever branch we take, the students just have to get some decent marks and clear the campus interview. Then the students can manage after that even without knowing the basics of what they have studied. All that the companies need is some interest from students towards learning more and job . While in medicine private clinic possibility is there.

"Choose a job that you love, and you'll never have to work a day in your life." - Anonymous
Career is of an immense importance in a person's life. Every child as he/she grows has dreamt about something that he/she loves to do. Be it your social status or lifestyle, the career that you choose determines a huge part of your future life. This makes it very important for you to choose your career perspicaciously. But unfortunately these childhood ambitions change with time. But at what point these dreams fade away?
Now a days there's a huge demand of the society of getting a career in medical or engineering fields. These days, whomever you'll ask about their career choices, you'll get the same answer doctor or engineer. People are blindly following the craze of these courses in the society and almost everyone is rushing towards becoming an engineer or doctor. This is the current scenario of Indian educational system and the students of India.
A student in India after getting good score in 10th is encouraged to opt for the science stream for higher secondary education. Engineering and medical are seen as two of the most profitable careers in the Indian society. So, for having a steady career, parents also ensure encouraging their children for taking the science stream without considering his/her opinions and interests. And this is just because of their faulty logic that wealth & respect lies only in being an engineer or a doctor. For them, other choices & jobs are just a waste of time.
The society just cares about the degrees and not the interests. As a result of the wrong mindset of people, this situation has arisen. Unawareness is also one of the causes. Because parents want their child to succeed in life, they blindfoldly push their child in the race of becoming an engineer or doctor. But they're simply burying their child under a lot of pressure and this way they kill their dreams. Just paying a good amount of money in luxurious universities won't secure the child's future at all. At last, only the interest & heed of the person matters.
This issue seems to be resolving now. A wide range of courses are their considering children's interests in their specific fields. Also a lot of children are aware of their rights. Some parents too are very supportive in each and every decision taken by their children for their betterment. And this is what needs to happen everywhere in the society. Children should not be forced to choose careers not of their interests. After all the conclusion is that we have a lot of options. Your career is in your hands. Either you win or loose, it depends on you.
