Respected Sir,
I am Rishi Verma, the Head of Eco-Club of Campion School. I am writing to you in order to sensitize people about the importance of rag pickers in waste management.
The amount of municipal solid waste in our city is increasing at an alarming rate. An efficient waste management system is the need of the hour. Rag- pickers, who collect the waste materials having appropriate re-sale value, and get it recycled are indeed playing a huge role in keeping our surroundings clean.
According to statistics, rag-pickers help to clean around 62 million tonnes of waste generated each year in our country. This is a significant figure. So, their work must be acknowledged and we must cooperate by segregating the waste.
