The Debating Club of the college organized an Intra-college Debate Competition on 19 January 2020 at 1:30 PM in the Seminar Hall of the college. Here is the report on the event for your reference.
Topic of the debate: PRIVATISATION IS GOOD OR BAD.
Three professors—Dr. Iysha Jha (Department of Chemistry), Dr. Chetan Singh (Department of Hindi), and Dr. Sinchita Ghosh (Deptt. of English)—judged the participants. Either Hindi or English was acceptable for the students to use when speaking. At 1:30 PM, the tournament kicked off. The tournament saw the participation of 29 students. The majority of them argued strongly for their positions. The students were all proficient speakers. The judges found it challenging to select the winners. However, the following students received awards:
• Ms. Payal Singh, the student of B.tech. (prog.), 2nd semester. (1st Prize)
• Mr. Rahul Bhatia, the student of B.Com., 8th semester. (2nd Prize) The first prize was Rs. 2000, and the second, Rs. 1000.
Each student took part in the activity with tremendous zest and enthusiasm. We schedule these occasions periodically so that students can master the art of debate.
