No it is not needed to increase the speed because

It is given that car is moving with 50kmph and to travel 500km it takes 500/50 =10hours

For half distance (250km) it takes 250/50=5 hours. Now we have 6 hrs more to gwt to that place but for going remaining 250km we need 5 hrs only travelling at 50kmph so INCREASE IN SPEED IS NOT REQUIRED
