               HOW TO SAVE THE EARTH?

                                               By - Vinita

In today's world we can see drastic changes since the centuries ago. We have evolved from Early Humans to modern humans , and now we think of how to create machines , robots and what not to make our task easy. Such was created in the formation of plastics which was created to reduce our carryload. It is obtained from various sources starting from crude oil and ending up as a plastic bottle or packet etc. Wherever anyone turns his/her eyes, we can see plastics made directly or indirectly. We know that plastic has many uses but we know that everything in this world has some advantage and disadvantage both. We were talking of advantages but disadvantages are lot more alarming than the advantages. This plastic is responsible for the climate change taking place all over. The places once covered with icy glaciers have turned to sea. Melting processes is taking place, and it is estimated that by 22th century, the sea level can rise by 2% , which is enough to destroy human civilisation. Well, Maths tells us that every problem has a solution. This major problem has a simple solution. We know of the 3 R's from 2nd Standard - Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. Well, as a small step we should reduce the use of plastics and use natural paper and jute. Reuse - In this we can again use the plastic and dispose less as it will lead to soil and environmental degradation. Recycle is we should give to kabadiwalas or Ragman, who uses the plastic for factories providing materials. We should in this phases reduce the load of plastic of our mother earth by not using them and switching to organics like jute which is compatible everywhere. Afforestation is also a major help as the pollution produced during making of any product be it a coal manufacturer it will help to reduce it. Deforestation must be reduced to earliest. Paper which is obtained from nature is used to make napkins and people often demand of napkins more soft. Do you know that in order to make more softer napkins tons of trees are being cut every month? This is the major cause of deforestation. Others are making of fine wooden furniture which is a requirement. Hence the forest ministry has launched some schemes that provides a limit to produce woods. On our side we can plant more and more trees and encourage organic farming. These are the steps that must be taken to save our Earth. Thank You!

Sir,

Subject: The harmful effects of tourism on Corbett National Park

Through the columns of your esteemed daily, I would like to draw the attention of the

concerned authority to the rampant abuse of available facilities in the Corbett National Park by

tourists and the consequent endangerment to the environment.

The tourists not only litter the place with non-biodegradable plastic packets and wrappers, but

also use wood from the forests for cooking purposes. Excessive trampling of the soil has been

reported to have a harmful effect on the natural ecosystem. The tranquillity of the habitat, which

is so crucial to the resident fauna, is habitually disturbed by tourists playing loud music in their

safari jeeps and during their camps.

The Corbett National Park is the oldest in the country, established in 1936, to protect the

endangered Bengal tiger. The public should be made aware of the fact that eco-tourism should

not be facilitated at the cost of harming the environment. It is my request that this issue be

immediately taken up by your esteemed publication to generate further awareness.

Yours sincerely,

Navita
