Sub: Lavish wastage of of energy in our country and the government's turning blind eye to it.
Sir
I write to you to express my deep concern over the problem of extravagant wastage of energy in our energy-hungry country. Our country is the country of paradoxes. On one hand the government has launched 'Save Power Campaign'; on the other hand it is turning blind eye to the large scale wastage of electricity and fuel in the name of ostentatious weddings, parties, and other celebrations. Last week I got an opportunity to attend a wedding. It was such a glamorous wedding; thousands of high power consuming lights, fans, ac units were running. I was shocked to see such wastage. I thought if one wedding was consuming so much energy, how much energy must have been wasted all across the country at weddings taking place nationwide! I was reminded of the frequent power-cuts during summer all across our nation.
The power shortage problem can be solved by government's intervention. The government must make power consumption policy at marriage palaces and wedding resorts. I appeal to the concerned ministry through the esteemed columns of your daily to look into it. I also appeal to people to pay heed to wise consumption of electricity.
Yours truly
