you can add if or whether to convert interrogative questions from direct to indirect speech​

Answer:

if the question is of the form yes/no then we put if/whether and the interrogative sentence is turn into assertive form

and if the question is of the form (wh) that is what where which when how then itnis kept as it is

for example : she said to me ,"do i know you?"

answer: she asked me if she knew me .

and she said to me," where did you go yesterday?"

answer : she asked me where i had gone the prevous day.
