let BD = 3x

and CD =2x

as AD is perpendicular to BC

Therefore,

 \frac{area(abc)}{area(adc)} = \frac{ \frac{1}{2} \times ad \times bc }{ \frac{1}{2} \times ad \times cd} = \frac{3x + 2x}{2x} = \frac{5x}{2x} = \frac{5}{2}
