Molecules of water are loosely bounded to each other and have less intramolecular force of attraction but in solid molecules are tightly bounded to each other and have very high intermolecular force of attraction .

We can easily move a glass rod through water beaker because in liquid there is less inter molecular force and more inter molecular space... These two properties of liquid help us in doing so as water falls in the category of liquid...
But,,,
Solids have more inter molecular force and less inter molecular space..
Which made solids rigid.. And we are not able to do same in stones as stone fall in the category of solids
