You estimate that a puppy weighs 12 pounds. The actual weight of the puppy is 14 pounds. Find the percent error. Round your answer to the nearest hundredth of a percent.

12 \div 100 \times 14 = 0.12  \times 14 = 1.68

Solution :-

Estimated weight of the puppy = 12 pounds

Actual weight of the puppy = 14 pounds

Difference in estimated weight and actual weight = 14 - 12

= 2 pounds

Percent error

= (Difference in estimated weight and actual weight*100)/Actual weight

⇒ [(14 - 12)*100]/14

⇒ (2*100)/14

⇒ 200/14

⇒ 14.285 %
