That is a weird question.

See how weighing machines work is they measure the force you are exerting on it (like those machines in grocery shops, you put a finger on it and keep pressing harder. The reading will increase, try it next time.)

So then the machine is calibrated to convert that force into mass. ( around 9.8 Newtons translate to 1 kg.) But it depends on place to place. If you take a weighing machine calibrated in Delhi and take it to Shimla, it will show your weight less (congrats! instant weight loss!).

So I don't really know what's the question is about. Your mass can be more or less, depending on the machine calibration.

The weighing machine measures this apparent weight and hence the mass indicated by it is less than the actual mass. Our actual mass will be more than 42 kg.
