Primary and secondary data

Explanation:

The vital step in market research is collection of data. The data so collected is further refined to get the information one wants. The  information collected through original or first-hand research is called as Primary data. On the other hand, secondary data is information which has been collected in the past and the data is filtered or refined or taken in part for further research.

Example of primary data is where you get people to fill a survey form.

Example of secondary data is collecting data from the internet, newspaper articles and company reports.
